All of us at Green Earth Landscaping, Inc. hope you and your family have a happy and safe holiday season & healthy New Year! We are looking forward to 2012 with great enthusiasm!

Leaf Removal, Pruning & Pine Needles

fall-leavesLeaf removal season is underway and our crews are concentrating on cleaning up leaves at each property as well as giving everything a final cut before winter. In order to accomplish leaf removal, mowing schedules will be stretched out. Also, with the cooler temperatures, we will only be mowing on an “as needed” basis. This is a great time of year to allow newly established seed time to strengthen; staying off this new grass with the mowers is very important. We have also begun pruning at all of our properties. Our goal is to prune everything and remove all of the leaves before completing pine needle applications. If you haven’t contacted us to schedule the application of your pine needles, please get in touch ASAP. This year we purchased a large quantity of pine needles in order to meet increased demand. With the holidays rapidly approaching, a fresh application of pine needles can really spruce up your curb appeal!

Soil Testing

In order to grow a hearty, lush landscape it is essential to understand the basic characteristics of the soil. This is accomplished using a soil test. A soil test is a process by which elements (phosphorus, potassium, calcium, sulfur, copper, zinc, etc…) are chemically removed from the soil and measured for their content within the sample. The quantity of available nutrients in the sample determines the amount of fertilizer that is recommended. These analyses also indicate whether lime is needed and how much to apply. Testing the nutritional status of your soil during the winter months will help us tailor a personalized plan to improve soil conditions so your grass can thrive this upcoming spring!
